Prof. Uriel Reichman, President
IDC Herzliya
When we dedicated the Sammy Ofer School of Communications at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya, we set forward a key goal of having the school act as a lynchpin in the development of the media world's leaders both in Israel and abroad.
To do so, we must understand both the technologies and trends that are influencing the public discourse. The dedicated staff of the Sammy Ofer School of Communications is constantly scouring the ever-changing media world in an effort to identify and analyze those elements. There can be no doubt the Blogosphere is having a major impact in the way information is disseminated. It seems then only natural for IDC Herzliya to put this conference together to better understand the phenomenon and take another step forward in achieving our aforementioned goal.
We at IDC Herzliya are very proud to host this conference which I'm sure will be both interesting and productive to all those involved.

Dr. Noam Lemelshtrich-Latar, Dean
Sammy Ofer School of Communications, IDC Herzliya
The Sammy Ofer School of Communications at IDC Herzliya is proud to host Blogference, the first international bloggers conference to take place in Israel.
Blogging is playing a major role in the dramatic changes which we are seeing today in the mainstream media, with the potential of creating a power shift described by media researchers & visionaries such as Alvin Toffler. Blogging is changing the way journalists gather information, organizational behavior, business interactions, and even the political landscape. The fact that everyone can write and contribute to a blog is shaking up the old order of media hierarchy. New intelligent search engines may add considerable power to bloggers and create a whole new global communications system which will have profound effects on all aspects of social behavior. In short, blogging is one of the most exciting phenomenon of the information age.
Our conference will attempt to shed light on this very important medium and gain greater understanding, with the help of leading bloggers from the United States, Europe and Israel.
We look forward to having you join this landmark conference at the Sammy Ofer School of Communications.
