Dr. Liav Orgad, lecturer and researcher at Radzyner Law School at IDC Herzliya, was recently chosen as a new member of the Global Young Academy (GYA), a prestigious international organization that includes members from 54 countries.
Members of the GYA are young leading scientists and researchers in various fields, including: natural sciences, engineering, social sciences, humanities and more. Membership in the organization is given to researchers who exhibited excellence and commitment to serve society and to advance knowledge and cooperation between academic institutions all over the world.
Membership in GYA is an honor for young researchers and represents recognition of Dr. Orgad's wide contributions to research. His latest work, published by the well-known Oxford University Press in 2015, was the acclaimed and well-reviewed book "The Cultural Defense of Nations: A Liberal Theory of Majority Rights". The book won many praises, including from Prof. Shlomo Avineri, who wrote that the book "is one of the most substantive books that appeared in 2015" (Ha'aretz).
Dr. Orgad’s book is the first book written about the rights of the majority, a relevant subject not just for Israel, considering the recent Muslim wave of immigration to Europe.
IDC Herzliya congratulates Dr. Orgad, who is currently conducting research at Harvard University, on his impressive achievement and is proud to include in its ranks professors and leading researchers in their fields with proven, world-renowned contributions to the worlds of academia and practice.
