Research Student/Post Doc:
Machine learning for meeting yourself in virtual reality

Virtual clones in VR environment

The Advanced Reality Lab (ARL) is looking for a Post Doctoral or PhD student for a 3 year EU research project. Strong MSc students with relevant programming experience are also invited to apply. The overall goal of the project is to develop a virtual reality (VR) platform for "meeting yourself", in the context of psychological and medical interventions. This multi-disciplinary project combines technologies for developing virtual clones of specific people with psychological and medical research.

You will be in charge of developing the "AI" behind such virtual agents in interactive scenarios. Our research focus is on generating expressive reactive and interactive non-verbal behavior using deep generative models, learning the relationship among several modalities (speech, facial expressions, and more) from video data, and transferring the leaned models to VR. Background in machine learning is necessary, some background with deep learning and Unity/VR programming is desired.

Start date: from Sep 1st 2020
